What we think of as vitamin E is alpha tocopherol, part of a family of tocopherols that are present in food. The different tocopherols are alpha, beta, delta and gamma.

Much attention has lately been given gamma tocopherol, as it is the form present in the highest amounts in our vitamin E rich food. Gamma tocopherol may be even more supportive of cardiac health than alpha. These components work together and must be present to be optimally utilized by the body.
