 Immun'Age is a nutritional supplement made from Fermented Papaya Preparation (FPP).

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The free-radical theory of aging is credited to Denham Harman, MD, PhD, who proposed 50 years ago
that aging is the result of accumulated cellular and tissue damage caused by free radicals over one's
lifetime.
Free radicals (also known as reactive oxygen species) are unstable, highly reactive molecules that
have an unpaired electron in their orbit. Free radicals are involved in thousands of reactions in
the body that are essential in maintaining life. They play a key role in reproduction, cell
maturation and development, cytokine production, and the destruction of toxins. For example,
superoxide radicals are generated by neutrophils (white blood cells) during the process of
phagocytosis the destruction of harmful bacteria and toxins.
Although they are not detrimental in all instances, an overload of free radical activity creates a
state of oxidative stress, which can greatly accelerate the aging process. It is for this reason that
free radicals are carefully regulated by the body, through means such as the production and activity
of key enzymes, including superoxide dismutase (inactivates superoxide radicals), catalase
(prevents formation of hydroxyl radicals) and glutathione peroxidase (inactivates hydroxyl radicals
and hydrogen perioxde).
Free-Radical Regulation
Superoxide anion is an active oxygen species instrumental in killing microbes during phagocytosis.
In a study performed in Russia, Immun'Age was found to stimulate production of superoxide by
neutrophils and macrophages while inhibiting the production of harmful hydroxyl radicals. Such
findings suggest that Immun'Age functions not simply as an antioxidant, but as a free-radical
regulator.
Nitric oxide (NO) is a soluble free radical gas that plays a critical role in immune function and
central and peripheral neuronal transmission. In vitro studies observed Immun'Age's interaction
with NO and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). The study showed Immun'Age both scavenged NO
and promoted its production in a dose-dependent manner from particular neutrophils and macrophages.
Further, in an open randomized controlled clinical trial, researchers observed that administration
of Immun'Age supported healthy levels of superoxide, nitric oxide and glutathione in blood monocytes,
suggesting once again its antioxidant regulatory properties.
Antioxidant Support
In human subjects, Immun'Age limited lipid peroxidation caused by oxygen radicals from pulmonary
phagocytes. Further it was observed that intake also stimulated antioxidant activities of RBCs
and WBCs. In vivo studies demonstrated enhanced levels of glutathione and SOD in erythrocytes
and leukocytes after administration of Immun'Age.
Immunomodulation
Scientific research has shown Immun'Age supports healthy immune function in several ways.
Researchers have found increased immune and antioxidant activity in macrophages associated
with supplementation of Immun'Age. In vivo studies have shown increased activation of natural
killer cell activity. Furthermore, human trials have demonstrated that oral administration of
Immun'Age for one month increased the mean rate of gamma interferon production. Among the many
actions of interferons is their stimulatory effect on lymphocytes. Immun'Age may induce T-cell and
B-cell activity indirectly via increased interferon production.
Metal Ion Chelation
A scientific study observed Immun'Age to sequester iron salts and scavenge hydrogen peroxide.
Further, in a human trial, Immun'Age promoted the excretion of platinum (ingested as part of a
therapeutic compound) from the body.
